What can we say about Colombia... Well, it took us by surprise.
For a country recovering from an absurdly violent past, it's amazingly welcoming. There's a homey feel to the entire place and the people will do anything to make you feel comfortable. You can still feel a grittiness there, looking into the foaming mouths of guard dogs and the startling visage of yet another police officer. But it's clear that the people have taken their country back.
We spent just under a month in Colombia, and could have stayed much longer. There are colorful beaches, unctuous dishes, and vibrant cities. Soak it in. You won't find anywhere else in the world quite like Colombia.
